ULKATCHO FOOD & MEDICINE PLANTS - Published in 1996 by the Ulkatcho First Nation of Anahim Lake this book shares the extensive knowledge of plants passed down for centuries by the Ulkatcho elders. Contributing to the book are Sage Birchwater (writer/researcher), Dr. Richard Hebda (Royal BC Museum), Dr. Nancy Turner (University of Victoria ethnobotanist), and Michele Kay (researcher) and two dozen Ulkatcho elders. The Ulkatcho people are an Athapaskan-speaking First Nation whose traditional territory on the western edge of the Chilcotin Plateau is one of the most ecologically diverse regions of British Columbia. The knowledge of plants by Ulkatcho elders
reflects of this rich diversity.
